In case you missed it, the NBA held their first ever annual NBA awards Monday night in NYC, where they announced the 2017 NBA season’s biggest awards, including Rookie of the Year, MVP, Coach Of The Year, Defense Players Of The Year & a bunch more. The event was hosted by basketball fan & rap superstar Drake, who kicked off the show with a funny monologue.

From making fun of players’ handshakes with Will Ferrell to making fun of himself for being a bandwagon fan, Drizzy was received by the audience with both laughter & groans following his punchlines & jokes, but overall did a good job. He of course took time out of his set to roast several of the players/peers in the audience as well, including Draymond Green, Matt Barnes, & Isaiah Thomas to name a few.

“People were upset that I’m the host” of the NBA Awards, Drake said, “because they say I’m a bandwagon fan.” He insisted that’s not true. “I have two teams, one from my hometown and whoever else is winning at the time. Just two teams” he jokingly said. He also singled out a number of teams and athletes, saying, for instance, that the winning Warriors are a “tremendous group of players that play with Matt Barnes.” At times Drake scored laughs, but at other points there seemed to be some groans.

Watch that & more in Drake's opening monologue below. (While you're at it, check out some of his other skits & hilarious moments that just surfaced online including a parody of Steph Curry).
