The Golden State Warriors may be without Steph Curry for the start of the second round, as the All-Star guard continues to recover from an MCL injury.
According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, Curry is "not close to playing" and it appears as though he'll need the full six weeks to recover which would put his return closer to May 4.
"Friday will make four weeks since the injury. It is looking as if the ligament will need a full six weeks to heal. That six-week point would be May 4. That could mean it’s more realistic for Curry, who no doubt is desperate to return to action, to return for Game 3 of the next round — especially if you factor in the Warriors’ usual cautiousness."
Although the Warriors have plenty of firepower without Curry in the lineup, they'll face a tougher test in the second round than the Kawhi-less Spurs. As of now, it looks like Golden State will host the New Orleans Pelicans, who have dominated the Portland Trail Blazers en route to a 3-0 series lead.
The Warriors defeated the San Antonio Spurs 110-97 last night and they'll look to complete the sweep on Sunday afternoon. If both the Warriors and Pelicans win their respective Game 4s, there's a strong possibility that Curry will be out of action for the first couple of games or more.
