Sapp joins a growing list of former NFL players willing to donate their brains.
Former defensive tackle and NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp spent 13 seasons in the trenches enduring brutal collision, after brutal collision. Sapp now becomes the latest former NFL player to pledge their brain posthumously to the Concussion Legacy Foundation, an organization that works on reducing concussions in sports, and developing more knowledge on the affects of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
Sapp made his announcement via a video released on the Player's Tribune. His decision came after receiving an email from ex-NFL running back Fred Willis outlining quotes from NFL owners denying the correlation between concussions, CTE, and its various deadly side effects. Sapp explained that his ultimate goal is to make the game better than it was during his time on the field. Check out the full video.
