Wale drops new track "The Pessimist" with J. Cole on the hook.

Wale just dropped "The Pessimist", the third track from his upcoming LP The Album About Nothing, and it is promising, very promising indeed. It starts off with a vintage George Costanza sound bite laid on top of a soulful church organ, announcing the imminent arrival of Deacon Wale, who will read a sermon from the Book of Costanza.

"The Pessimist" is all about the difficulty of maintaining a positive mindset when one is getting crushed by a mountain of various but interrelated problems -- money problems, education problems, being-black-in-America problems. J. Cole's chorus says it all: "Got no gas in my tank again, but it makes no difference to me." Wale delivers a warm, energetic, inspired performance throughout that shows he is, at the end of the day, hopeful after all.

The Album About Nothing drops on Tuesday (March 31). What are your expectations for the album?

Quotable Lyrics

What we gotta do to be winnin'?
Cause all the schools getting' closed
Dribble a little, coach, shootin' at a foe
Cause the chargin' in the hoop, no community center
My nigga, hopeless
