Who will bring Eddie Brock and Cletus Kasady's misadventures to life?
Despite being hit with an onslaught of negative-to-mixed reviews, Marvel's beloved antihero flick Venom was accepted by many eager fans. After proving to be a box-office hit, grossing a total of $855 million, a Venom sequel was quickly ushered into the developmental stages. Yet with production set to kick off in November, the film has already been hit with an unexpected snafu. Director Ruben Fleischer, who helmed the first installment, has departed from the upcoming second chapter.

As of now, Venom 2 is moving forward without a director, a shift into dangerous territory that does not bode entirely well. Given the scope of the film, it won't be surprising to see a new name join the roster sooner than later. Yet should production remain slated to begin in November, a few notable stars must align for smooth sailing. For one, the studio better hope a capable director is free to take the reigns, as many prominent names are likely booked solid. As it stands, kicking off Venom 2 on a rushed note would be a big misstep, especially given the fact that Carnage is set to star as the primary antagonist. You can't drop the ball on Carnage.
For now, the search for a new director is underfoot. Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson are tapped to return in their roles, as will screenwriter Kelly Marcel. Are you excited to see another Venom movie? The film is currently scheduled to arrive on October 2nd, 2020.
