We're only in the second month of the year and already, there have been plenty of high-profile arrests in the hip-hop world. Nobody has said anything but the conspiracy theorists out there will be happy to tell you that something suspicious is going on. If we count Tekashi 6ix9ine's arrest in November of last year and Young Thug's recent struggles with the law, the situation feels even worse. Van Lathan seems to think that something fishy is going on right now with the recent arrests of 21 Savage, Blueface and Lil Baby. He shared his thoughts on Twitter.
Lathan has been very outspoken in the past, standing up to Kanye West when he initially made his "slavery sounds like a choice" rant. Again, he's spitting out exactly what a few of us were thinking. In response to a tweet from VladTV, Van wrote that something weird has been going on with all of the arrests in hip-hop. "Yo it never seems odd to you guys that these guys always get arrested after they come up?" asked Lathan. "Ice wants 21, Blueface got popped last week and now Baby."
He's got a point. With all of this happening within the span of a few weeks, it feels suspicious. Especially with the severity of 21 Savage's arrest, the climate is a little offputting at the moment. Do you agree with Van Lathan or you think it's just a coincidence?
