If you're familiar with the rising underground Atlanta-based rapper UnoTheActivist, you've probably been waiting for him to drop the full length version of the fire Magic snippet he posted back in April.
Last night, Uno finally released the full single on his Soundcloud page, as well as a video -shot by DRXVMZ- accompanying the vocals on YouTube.
Uno goes in with his usual focus on lyricism and play-on-words, with clever lyrics like "Infrared, infiltrated" and "Double agent, double profit" that play on repetition to give them a catchy quality, as well as some witty wordplay like "Know I’m in your head, gimme that head like Aspirin".
He seems to be tackling issues commonly expressed by artists recently coming into fame with lyrics like:
"I got new money, I got new status / I got good times, I got bad habits / I got growin' pains, still believe in magic / All my life I grew up knowin' to be safe / Turn your back on me, I swear I won’t look back on you"
The video is simple enough, featuring only Uno, and shot between what looks like the inside of an apartment, a parking lot, and the inside of a car. Its glitchy editing, slow-motion shots and DRXVMZ production, has fans comparing it to Spaceghostpurrp videos. It certainly has the dark and abstract feel of a Spaceghost video, with lyrics like "We can take off and go anywhere," further adding to the out-of-this-world and dreamy vibes of the song and video.
