Tragedy struck in Brazil on Sunday when former UFC fighter Rodrigo de Lima was killed in an alleged hit and run after he reportedly got into an argument with an Uber driver. His friends who were on the scene at the time explained how de Lima had been arguing with the driver when the driver asked de Lima to get out. The man sped off but allegedly came back and hit de Lima with his car which is what killed him. He is survived by a wife and two children.

The alleged attacker, Jefferson Roger Maciel, has now been fired by Uber, according to TMZ. The rideshare company issued a statement today saying that they are appalled by what happened and have taken all necessary measures to make sure the man can't use their app ever again. Uber also confirmed that Maciel was working for Uber at the time of the incident.

"As soon as we learned of this incident we immediately removed the driver’s access to the app and we stand ready to assist law enforcement with their investigation," Uber explained.
