Last month Tyrese Gibson's ex wife, Norma Mitchell Gibson, filed a restraining order on the actor after she alleged he abused their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla. Norma said in the court documents that Tyrese pushed Shayla to the ground, "pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other." She added that Tyrese hit her 12 to 16 times, making her unable to sit down from the pain.
As The Blast reports, Shayla is set to testify against her father in the child abuse case and in an attempt to make good of the damage he's done, Tyrese has reportedly been bombarding her with gifts and gestures while she has been at school. Norma's legal team tells the publication that Tyrese hired a banner to fly over his daughter's school that read, "“NO MATTER WHAT, DADDY LOVES YOU SHAYLA.” The banner went over her school yesterday, as the family's set to be in court today (October 24th). The Fast & Furious actor also reportedly had flowers, balloons, a teddy bear and a card sent to her Van Nuys elementary school. The school received so many deliveries from the actor, they decided to not inform Shayla of the packages since she was already in such shock from the banner.
Tyrese is denying all allegations of abuse to his daughter. Norma does not want to withhold Shayla from her father but says she wants him "to receive the therapy he needs so that our daughter can have the relationship with her father she deserves.”
When the news first surfaced Tyrese shared a lengthy post to Instagram with a photo of him, Norma and Shayla with a caption detailing how he wants to co-parent and "nothing else."
