Paramount Network will debut a new, six-part docuseries titled Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, which recounts the life and legacy of Martin, who was unfairly shot and killed at age 17. This incident acted as a catalyst for the widespread #BlackLivesMatter movement, and continues to remain imminently relevant with each proceeding act of senseless violence enacted against unarmed black citizens.

The fatal encounter between Martin and his murderer, George Zimmerman, gained international attention, whilst sparking public protests that emphasized rampant inequities in the American judicial system. Race, politics, power and gun control are salient issues that have come to the forefront since Martin's passing.

The series will be comprised of home videos and family photos, as well as news footage that paint an intimate portrait of its subject matter, whilst universalizing his influence on subsequent social justice movements.

Martin's parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin were interviewed for the upcoming docuseries, as well as their family lawyer Benjamin Crump, Angela Rye, Reverend Al Sharpton, Angela Davis and athlete Carmelo Anthony.
