The Transformers hype seems to have died down. When the first film hit theaters in 2009, crowds were captivated by the stunning visuals, entertaining battles, and heartwarming humor. Stars Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and Megan Fox all walked away from the series after successfully launching one of the most lucrative movie franchises in modern history. Over time, the series slowly mutated into a mixture of explosions and CGI with a story hidden somewhere in between. The last Transformers film, The Last Knight starring Mark Wahlberg, was the lowest grossing movie in the franchise. It only brought in $605 million globally, with $130 million of that being domestic sales. In comparison to Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction, which both earned over a billion in the global box office, The Last Knight was a failure.

Paramount, who has distributed all five Transformers films, recently pulled Transformers 7 from their release schedule. Bumblee, a spin-off based around the yellow hero, is still slated to be the sixth film in the franchise with a release this holiday season. Bumblebee will hit theaters on December 21. Transformers 7 was set to be released on June 28, 2019, but has been replaced with Tiffany Haddish’s comedy Limited Partners. That's a win for her.
