Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross continues to spread her Black girl magic. Ross was announced as the host for this year's American Music Awards. She also held down hosting duties last year. Ross has earned a Golden Globe, and several NAACP Awards, for her work on Black-ish. The hit series has also gained her two Critics' Choice Television Awards and three Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. The nominations for this year's AMAs will be announced live on YouTube by Kane Brown, Ella Mai, Normani, and Bebe Rexha on September 12.

Ross will executive produce the award show, which was started in the 70's after ABC lost the rights to the Grammys. The AMAs allow the public to vote through their website, so the nominees and award winners reflect the charts. Many other award shows rely on a group of peers or judges to cast votes. This year's ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 9, at 8 PM ET on ABC. Last year's biggest winners include “Despacito" for Favorite Pop Song, Drake for Favorite Rap Artist, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. for Favorite Rap album, Beyonce for Favorite Female R&B Artist, and Bruno Mars for almost everything else pop related.
