Torae releases an unheard DJ Premier collab: "Saturday Night."

Torae has been a fixture in the NYC underground community for well over a decade, having put out collaborative projects with Marco Polo and alongside Skyzoo as the Barrel Brothers. For the Record, his debut solo album from 2011, included production from all the best -- Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Large Professor, and more. He's now working on his sophomore album, Entitled, and he's raising funds for the project via Kickstarter so he can release it fully independently through his own label, Internal Affairs.

As soon as fans helped him reach the halfway point ($5,000), he decided to award them with an unearthed DJ Premier collab from 2014. "Saturday Night" tells the story of a seemingly average Saturday evening until a delivery call for Chinese takes Torae for a few unexpected turns. You won't hear storytelling like this nowadays, and the Preemo production is just what you need to get your weekend started the right way.

Torae is currently $3,000 away from his $10,000 goal, and there's just 4 days left in the campaign. Donate here to support some high quality independent hip-hop.

Quotable Lyrics

Lean forward, I upper-cutted his jaw
Foot swept him to the floor and throw him right out the door
Peep shorty in my sight, she ask if I'm aight
I said it's to be expected, it's Saturday night
