Since being released from prison back in April, Meek Mill's kept a relatively low profile. He finally returned to the public eye last Sunday at the BET Awards to perform a new, Miguel-assisted single entitled "Stay Woke" while wearing a custom-made shirt bearing RIP messages to recently-murdered rappers XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo. The social justice-minded single soon appeared on streaming platforms, and after a week, debuts at #1 on our chart.
This week, there's a three-way tie for artist with the most appearances in the top ten. Drake, Youngboy Never Broke Again, and XXXTentacion all appear twice. New tracks barely missing out on spots this week include Tyler, The Creator's "Peach Fuzz" (#13), A$AP Ferg's "Verified" (#14), Lil Yachty's "All Girls Are the Same" remix (#16), and Fabolous' "Walking Trophy" remix (#17).
10. Wiz Khalifa Feat. Problem - Gin & Drugs
Wiz Khalifa's been rolling out Rolling Papers 2 at a snail's pace with no release date announced yet, and that continued this past week with the arrival of a new single featuring Problem. Befitting the L.A. rapper's presence, "Gin & Drugs" is very old-school G-funk. It debuts at #10.
9. YoungBoy Never Broke Again Feat. Lil Uzi Vert - Rich N***a
This past week, NBA YoungBoy dropped off a "Reloaded" version of his April album Until Death Call My Name, which included some pretty huge collabs. Chief among them is "Rich N***a," a song with Lil Uzi Vert that had been previewed in snippet form months ago. It debuts at #9.
8. Drake - Nonstop
Early consensus on Drake's new album Scorpion had "Nonstop" as one of the obvious heaters. The track, partially produced by Memphis upstart Tay Keith, finds Drake back at his If You're Reading This It's Too Late level of energy but with a more modern spin on the sound. It debuts at #8.
7. Tyler, The Creator - GELATO
In the early years of his career, Tyler was never really one to remix a bunch of hot songs, but that's significantly changed since he released Flower Boy last year. The latest of these remixes comes in over Jacquees' recent track "No Validation," and is titled "GELATO." It debuts at #7.
6. Trippie Redd & XXXTentacion Feat. Quavo & Ski Mask the Slump God - Ghost Busters
One of the bigger tracks to arrive in the wake of XXXTentacion's death, this all-star posse cut initially didn't include Quavo, but the Migos member was added shortly after the song first popped up online. After debuting at #3 last week, it's down three places to finish at #6 in its second week out.
5. XXXTentacion - Tear Drop
The second consecutive X song on this week's list is also one of three that appeared in last week's top ten. "Tear Drop" is a version of X's freestyle at last year's XXL Freshman cypher that's been remixed by fellow 2017 Freshman Ugly God. Unfortunately, it was taken down soon after arrival and has not resurfaced. In its second week out, "Tear Drop" is up three places from #8 to #5.
4. YoungBoy Never Broke Again Feat. Offset - RIP
It's unclear whether this second Until Death Call My Name Reloaded cut was written before the recent rash of murders in rap, but its timing certainly makes it feel connected to X and Jimmy Wopo's deaths. The Offset-assisted cut debuts at #4.
3. Tekashi 6ix9ine - Blood Walk
Last week's #1 remains strong in its second showing. 69's long-awaited remix to Rich The Kid's "Plug Walk" had been teased for weeks, but finally arrived in the wake of The Game questioning the young rapper's gang credentials. In its second week out, it drops two places from #1 to #3.
2. Drake Feat. Jay Z - Talk Up
Drizzy used to be a safe bet to hit #1 on HNHH minutes after releasing anything new, but is Scorpion's initial showing on our top ten a sign of changing times? True, he only had two days for the tracks we posted individually to climb up the chart, but that used to be more than enough time. For the time being, his highest-charting debut this week is the Jay Z-assisted "Talk Up," which comes in at #2.
1. Meek Mill Feat. Miguel - Stay Woke
Perhaps some karmic retribution for the way things went down three summers ago, Meek Mill tops Drake for our #1 this week. The powerful "Stay Woke" may not keep the 6 God at bay for more than one week, but the fact that it debuts at #1 just days after Scorpion's arrival can't be understated.
