Each one of the three singles that dropped from Black Panther: The Album before it dropped last Friday made it into our top ten, and not only that, the top five. The album's dominated the year so much that we haven't had a 2018 edition of Top Tracks without a song from it yet. Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott's Cardo-produced collab from the album was only added on in the early hours of Saturday morning, but it quickly made its way up to the top of our list.
Fittingly, Kendrick Lamar leads all artists with appearances in the top ten this week, with two. New tracks barely missing out on spots this week include Wiz Khalifa and Sosamann's "Best Life" (#11), Schoolboy Q, 2 Chainz, Kendrick Lamar, and Saudi's "X" (#12), 2 Chainz, YG, and Offset's "PROUD" (#13), and Kodak Black's "Erykah Badu" (#15).
10. Rich The Kid - Plug Walk
Rich The Kid's received some increased attention since the arrival of his Kendrick Lamar-assisted single, "New Freezer," and last week he parlayed that into a Zane Lowe premiere of his follow-up, "Plug Walk." This one's got an 86% user approval rating and a #10 debut.
9. King Combs Feat. Chris Brown - Love You Better
Schoolly D's "P.S.K. (What Does it Mean?)" is famous for being the first true gangster rap cut (at least according to the man often credited with founding the genre, Ice T), but oddly enough Diddy's son decided to sample it on a love song. The Breezy-assisted single debuts at #9.
8. Young Scooter Feat. Young Thug & Future - Trippple Cross
Last year saw Future and Young Thug exponentially increasing their number of collaborations, first with BTG's "Relationship," then with Super Slimey, and less than two months into 2018, they've added another to their record. The Young Scooter-helmed "Trippple Cross" debuts at #8.
7. Kendrick Lamar & The Weeknd - Pray For Me
Last week's #1 was the third and final pre-release Black Panther: The Album single, and it holds on in the top ten for a second week. "Pray For Me," the second Kendrick/Abel Tesfaye collab since "Sidewalks," is down six places from #1 to #7 in its second week out.
6. Tory Lanez - March 2nd
Tory Lanez has been teasing his follow-up to 2016's I Told You since last October, and after announcing the release date back in January, he further ramped up anticipation by releasing a new track bearing the upcoming release's arrival date as its title. "March 2nd" debuts at #6.
5. Tay-K - After You
Is this Tay-K's next hit? After blowing up with his song "The Race" last year, 17-year-old rapper and accused murderer Tay-K has racked up over two million plays on Soundcloud in a week with his latest track, "After You." On our site, it debuts at #5.
4. Tee Grizzley Feat. Meek Mill - First Day Out (Remix)
Tee Grizzley already got a chance to collaborate with one of his favorite rappers, Meek Mill, on last summer's "Beef," and although Meek's currently locked up for some bullshit, they've managed to come though with a second collab. This remix of Grizzley's breakout hit debuts at #4.
3. BlocBoy JB Feat. Drake - Look Alive
Drake's Memphis connection has always been a little more concrete than his Houston one, but it's still a little surprising to hear him link up with buzzing native BlocBoy JB. Their collab "Look Alive" debuts at #3.
2. Rae Sremmurd - T'd Up
Just after the Super Bowl last week, Rae Sremmurd premiered their new single "T'd Up," which will appear on upcoming triple album Sremmlife 3. This track debuts at #2.
1. Kendrick Lamar & Travis Scott - Big Shot
The last (and only previous) time Kendrick and Travis linked up, it was for "Goosebumps," which turned out to be quite a hit. Although "Big Shot" dropped five days after its closest competitor, "T'd Up," it finishes #1 in its first week out.
