"Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul… then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me." - Herman Melville

There is no property more coveted than an oceanside real estate. Ty Dolla $ign's signature mixtape series, and entire ethos considers what it means to live in a Malibu beach house watching the sunset over the Pacific with a pre-rolled joint in one hand and an Instagram model in the other. His upbringing in southern California certainly informs his perspective. So does his early days as an unproven artist living in Brownsville, Brooklyn, taking the 3 train to the studio, "just trapping, trying to get on, like fucking going to G Unit’s sessions and shit, trying get a beat on their project, just trying to get somebody to listen to my shit." As urban living represents his struggle, the ocean in its infinite expanse represents his success.

Ty is popular, not just among music consumers, but among his peers. In 2015, he appeared as a guest artist on over 50 songs, notably including Kanye West's "Only One." He's a man with keen musical instincts, cool hair, and a unique passion for earthly pleasures.

Today, we count down the 25 best songs in his vast reservoir of music, as we await his next album. This list did not consider any of the songs from his upcoming album, Beach House 3. We've considered his expansive mixtape and commercial catalogue, as well as feature placements for this particular top 25 -- simply because there are a few pertinent guest appearances that, without Ty, would not have had the same impact.
