Gurley and Michel played together back in 2014.
When the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams play in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, a pair of former Georgia Bulldogs running backs will be facing off for football supremacy. Todd Gurley of the Rams will be looking to defeat Sony Michel of the Patriots. Both running backs played with each other back in 2014. At that point, Gurley was entering his last season with the team while Michel was going into his first. The following year Gurley was drafted 10th overall by the Rams, while Michel was drafted in the first round of this year's draft.
In an interview via Pro Football Talk, Gurley spoke about his first impressions of Michel when he first arrived on the scene and said he wasn't all that impressed at first.
“I remember when he first came in, he couldn’t run and catch,” Gurley explained. “I had to teach him how to do all that stuff.”
Gurley was given a mentorship role with Michel that year and now the Rams running back is joking about maybe teaching Michel just a little too much.
“Hopefully everything I taught him, he doesn’t do it and he just plays like he used to play before I taught him everything,” Gurley said.
Who do you have taking the Super Bowl come Sunday?
