TLC's Chilli was blasted on twitter for referencing the term "all lives matter" during a recent interview with UK's Channel 4.
TLC made their way by UK’s Channel 4 News recently to promote their forthcoming self-titled album dropping next month, and it’s safe to say things didn't go as planned. During their Q&A, Chilli decided to stir up some controversy & make headlines by referencing “all lives matter,” which as you know is a phrase that has been used to ignore or dismiss racial injustice.
When Chili and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins were questioned about the Black Lives Matter movement, Chilli gave the following response (see below):
“I personally didn’t go into any marches, or anything like that, but for me, all lives matter, you know what I mean?” she said. “Because there is a time when different groups are targeted for different things, you know what I’m saying? So, I just think that, just the whole—what happened, police brutality, against these young black boys, all of that kind of stuff is wrong, even if it was a Caucasian teen kid that this was happening to or whatever.”
And if that wasn't enough to strike a nerve with people, T-Boz made a controversial statement herself as well when she made a questionable comment about President Trump. When asked about how it was being a black female during Trump’s run, T-Boz replied…
“I don’t care about Donald Trump, so, I mean, God is my president,” she said. “I just feel sorry for the people it affects, but I don’t care about him.”
Of course, Twitter had a field day with both Chiili & T-Boz’s comments, which you can see for yourself (below).
