Scott Stapp clears the air.

The story of how T.I. rescued Scott Stapp from committing suicide has reached legendary status. Throwing things back to 2012, T.I. spoke on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live about how he helped the former Creed band member after he found him dying at a hotel. "Me and my partner, Phil, we checked into the hotel, we stepped out on the balcony, and when we stepped out on the balcony, we heard groans, moans, just sounds coming from the ceiling above the balcony. So we stepped back and we looked up and we saw that there was a dude up there," T.I. explained at the time. "Me and my crew operate on a 'don't ask, don't tell' basis - it's need to know only," he continued, after revealing he had no clue who Stapp was when he found him.

Stapp also commented on the incident on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live, saying that T.I. saved his life at a critical moment. "I thought I was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, in an asylum," he stated. "I started hearing things, like the cops were coming through the door and I started thinking, 'I can't embarrass my family.' So I was trying to climb over the balcony and fell 40 feet." The fall fractured Stapp's skull, broke his hip and nose, and paralyzed him for the moment. "I laid out there for two and a half hours and my guardian angel showed up—rapper T.I.," he continued. "He immediately took care of the situation and saved my life."

TMZ recently caught up with Stapp, and asked him to revisit the horrific moment. Stapp revealed that he was not trying to take his own life, but T.I. did save him. He instead paints the scenario as an accident, but still praised T.I. for being there for him in his time of need.
