Are you an independent emcee whose lifelong dream is to get in the studio with the man behind some of the biggest hits of the past decade? Well, you're in luck. Timbaland has just announced that, in collaboration with Microsoft and Lenovo, he'll be holding the first ever "Team Up With Timbaland Song Contest."
Starting August 18th, emerging solo artists can enter the contest by uploading an original song in the form of a YouTube or Soundcloud link to Lenovo’s contest submission page. Then, from August 27th to September 28th, the page will be open for fans to vote for and share their favorite submissions. By voting, fans will also be automatically entered in a sweepstakes to win Lenovo products and various other prizes.
Ultimately, the contest will be narrowed down to five finalists by Timbaland and his creative team, judging entries for originality and mass appeal. These finalists will be announced on October 13th. The chosen few will then be assigned a two-week challenge, the winner of which will win a day in the studio with Timbo. The winner will be announced on November 6.
Timbaland recently announced that his fourth studio album Textbook Timbo was recently re-titled Opera Noir and will have no features. The project has yet to receive a solid release date.
