Tip's long-awaited project may finally be close to completion.

T.I. has been talking about releasing an album called The Dime Trap since 2015, but it seems it might finally be coming together for a 2018 release. On Instagram Saturday night, Tip shared a preview of an upcoming track he says will live on the upcoming album. It features fellow Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci.

"Back Fresh off vacation," he captioned the post. "Dime Trap OTW 2yfnlucci made the cut!!!!" The song features a characteristically emotional rap-sung performance by Lucci, while T.I. delivers dexterous triplet flows over sentimental piano chords.

When he first spoke to HNHH about The Dime Trap back in 2015, it was envisioned as the second part in a Paperwork trilogy, and was said to be from the perspective of Tip's alter-ego T.I.P. (who you may remember from T.I. vs. T.I.P.). He described the album as "unapologetically trap," hearkening back to his breakthrough album Trap Musik, which depending who you talk to, pioneered the rap subgenre. If he's sticking to that formula, Lucci seems like the right person to be working with.

As it stands, T.I. has not released a proper solo album since 2014's Paperwork. In the meantime, he's EPs Da Nic, Us Or Else, and Us or Else: Letter to the System. He's also released projects with Hustle Gang and Bankroll Mafia. The Dime Trap is currently without a release date. Watch our interview with T.I. about the project below.
