Today has officially been hijacked by The Weeknd. The mysterious singer recently announced the arrival of his surprise album My Dear Melancholy, which is set to drop tonight at midnight. While fans wipe the froth from their mouths in anticipation, it feels appropriate to look to the past for this week's Throwback Thursday drop.

While Starboy essentially solidified Abel's superstar status, the legend began with the inaugural drop House Of Baloons. Still viewed by many as a quintessential chapter in The Weeknd's discography, House Of Baloons made an immediate impression in part to its dark, brooding, and sensual aesthetic.

Recall that this was time in which The Weeknd opted to remain incognito, which only served to enhance his mystique. Taking a page out of Chris Issak's book, The Weeknd follows in Isaak's footsteps by delivering a timeless and lustful proclamation.

"I left my girl back home, I don't love her no more," sings The Weeknd, reveling in his hedonistic infidelity, "she'll never fucking know that, these fucking eyes that I'm staring at, let me see that ass, look at all this cash." A simple man through and through. He wants the ass. He wants the drugs.

Revisit this classic while you wait with bated breath for My Dear Melancholy. Lord knows it's about to be return to form for the Canadian icon.

Quotable Lyrics

I left my girl back home
I don't love her no more
And she'll never fucking know that
These fucking eyes that I'm staring at
Let me see that ass
Look at all this cash
And I emptied out my cards, too
Now I'm fucking leaning on that
