In 2006, Showtime struck gold with their crime drama, "Dexter". The show centered around the titular Dexter Morgan; a forensic scientist who leads a double life as a serial killer. It enthralled fans, surviving the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, and secured a series of award nominations. When the show concluded with its less-than-fulfilling ending, fans were disappointed with how it wrapped up the 8-season adventure. They must have been excited to see a poster for the 9th season making its way around the web. Unfortunately, it was nothing more than a joke.

A Facebook post by Euphoria Studios depicted Dexter and his co-star, Yvonne Strahovski with a boat. Underneath, the logos of Showtime and Netflix peak out from under the red water. The post currently has over 16,000 likes, 59,000 comments, and 148,000 shares. A Netflix revival isn't an uncommon concept, and looks fairly legitimate with this poster. However, when fans took in to account the filming schedules of the show's stars, it dawned upon them that this 9th season is unlikely. While petitions and online dialogue have been known to reach the ears of your favorite show's production team, Dexter seems like he will remain deceased; a fitting ending considering the show's concept.
