Ah, Gucci Mane. One of the most controversial figures in Atlanta hip-hop, his extracurricular activities and legal struggles often overshadow his actual music, especially when he's wylin' out on Twitter for the whole world to see. But unpredictable and frustrating as he sometimes is, GuWop is currently sitting atop an ATLien empire, even while behind bars.

Seemingly all of the city's currently-buzzing newcomers pay tribute to the self-proclaimed Birdman of East Atlanta, whether it's Migos, Young Thug, PeeWee Longway or Rich Homie Quan. Though none of those artists are currently signed to 1017 Brick Squad Records, a label GuWop founded in 2007, their narratives are inextricably linked to the label, as are a great deal of trap music's canonic releases.

As evidenced recently by Thugger's label confusion and Gucci's on-again-off-again feud with Waka Flocka Flame, Brick Squad are a hard crew to keep track of-- a freewheeling group of tirelessly prolific rappers and producers who answer to a man who is quite possibly the world's most eccentric CEO. Though much of the label's operations and signings are kept under the table, we've attempted to round up a history of 1017. Below is a timeline detailing the label's major signings, feuds and releases, as well as some hints about its future.
