Though hip-hop is often about braggadocio and street cred, sometimes rappers have to step back and thank the ones that brought them into the world: the moms. With Mother's Day just around the corner, Smif n Wessun's Tek has fittingly shared his new song "Family Portrait," which touches on his love and respect for his mother.
Joining the ranks of songs like Kanye West's "Hey Mama" and 2Pac's "Dear Mama," "Family Portrait" finds Tek explaining how dysfunctional his family is, and thanking his mother for being the glue that held them all together.

I’m like Eddie Griffen with dysfunction family, my nieces and nephews I love em that’ my family
And they loving the kiddo plus the fact that I’m rapping always helps me a little
‘cause I remember the days of runnin a stray, running the trays thinking of ways to get paid
But all I got was days in court, nights in systems, shot the whole week and i’m with em
