Tee Grizzley remembers where he came from.
Tee Grizzley emerged onto the scene with his breakout hit "First Day Out," and while many rappers may have succumbed to the curse of the "one-hit-wonder," Grizzley proved his doubters wrong with My Moment. The acclaimed mixtape proved that the young rapper had something to say, and while his anthemic "First Day Out" will no doubt follow him for a while, he's talented enough to really make a name for himself. Earlier this month, Tee delivered up a new single called "Win," and now, he's come through with a video.
Right off the bat, there's some heavy juxtaposition going on, and the clip's director does an excellent job in bringing the duality to life. There are shots of Tee in his old family home, recording music on a budget setup and posting up on the porch, paired with shots of him stunting in front of mansion with wads of cash, gambling high stakes style in his lavish living room. "Used to order Wendy's fries, bring a shake with that," raps Tee Grizzley, "now it's Benihana rice, put some steak on that." If that's not the definition of winning, I'm not really sure what is.
Overall, "Win" is an excellent look for Tee, and a promising glimpse of what he's capable of if he continues down this line. The video is simple, yet effective, and cleverly manages to perpetuate rap stereotypes in a meaningful manner. Be sure to check this one out, and stay tuned for some new music from the Detroit up-and-comer. While he's proven that he can rap, we have yet to hear what he's truly capable of, as his debut studio album has yet to drop We do know, however, that he's been cooking something up with Jeezy, as well as planning a Thanksgiving mixtape with Lil Durk.
