It has been reported that the California rapper signed a deal with the hip-hop juggernaut, with Top Dawg making the announcement via Twitter today. In honor of the money move, Reason has shared a new single called "The Soul," produced by MyGuyMars. Taking to some subdued yet bouncy percussion, Reason brings some west coast energy to the jazzy-cymbal groove.
It's a refreshing look in a post-trap world, as Reason spits bars like "a walking contradiction but admit mine, outspoken but harbor my feelings inside, till the beat play and all the pain come out." Emotion lingers on the bylines, waiting to flood out. It's a delivery reminiscent, in some ways, of Tee Grizzley's, who brought a similar energy on "First Day Out."
