One of rap's most polarizing figures, Tay-K, has built a career and a large fan base all while sitting behind bars. The young rapper, who grew to overnight fame after he released his now Platinum-certified hit, "The Race," has been sitting in prison, awaiting trial for two murder charges and a count of aggravated robbery.

For a long time now, one of the worst case scenario theories regarding Tay-K's future was that he could be sentenced to the death penalty if found guilty. Texas has always been a pro-capital punishment state, so it wasn't so hard to imagine. The rumor was only spread further after T.I. made an impassioned Instagram post, comparing the potential sentence for Texas school shooter, Dimitrious Pagourtzis, who could be eligible for parole in 40 years, despite murdering 10 people and injuring 13 others.

However, Tay-K no longer needs to worry about that as, according to The Fader, he will not be facing the death penalty in his upcoming trial. The news was confirmed by Tay-K's manager, Ezra Averill, who shared the news on his Instagram story.

"MY ONLY WISH IS TO SEE TAY HOME AND HAPPY, F**K THE MONEY AND FAME," Averill wrote. "OH YEA AND AINT NO DEATH PENALTY OVER HERE #FREETAYK."

According to Politifact, Tay was never actually in danger of capital punishment in the first place. The law protecting Pagourtzis from execution because he was under 18, also protects Tay-K in the same way. However, one of his accomplices was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison, so fans should still brace themselves for bad news when Tay-K goes to trial.
