A teaser trailer for the third season of Netflix's hit series Stranger Things has hit the web, and it's as cryptic as ever. Very little is revealed in the promo footage, which comes in the form of an 80's commercial for a new mall. Stanger Things takes place in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. It appears that Hawkins will be stepping into the future with Starcourt Mall, a new place for teens to hang out.
In the trailer, Starcourt Mall is advertised as the perfect place to go shopping, eat food, and just enjoy. Other than Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery, making an appearance, the teaser mostly focuses on the mall and not the cast of the show. Playing on nostalgia once again, the new Stranger Things trailer graces fans with a glance at stores that this generation will never be familiar with. Sam Goody is shown in all of its 1980's glory, while old-school renditions of Radio Shack, The Gap, Zales, and others make an appearance. The food court is touched upon multiple times, and I can't help but feel like there's a more sinister plot tied into the new mall. Tom Clancy's The Hunt for Red October novel and Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA album are featured as items for sale in the mall, both of which were released in 1984. The teaser claims the mall is “coming next summer,” which is the closest we'll get to a release date for now.
