Harlem and L.A. link up.

While the East Coast/West Coast division in rap isn't nearly as prevalent, or as dangerous, as it used to be, there are still times when an artist can find inspiration in the scenes and styles of the other coast.

Enter "The Hook Up", the newest single off of Harlem rapper Smoke DZA's upcoming album, Not For Sale. Here, he's joined by two California natives, Dom Kennedy and Cozz, where the trio trade verses over smooth production from Girl Talk, featuring the chopped-up sample style that he's best known for.

The three artists sound fully comfortable on the beat and each spit their verse in their own unique cadences. It'd be hard to find a rapper than sounds more relaxed than Dom Kennedy, but he sounds perfectly natural next to Cozz and DZA's more purposeful delivery.

The song even ends with a shout out to all the areas in the U.S., as a testament to their cross-country collaboration.

Quotable Lyrics

Huaraches on my feet but no I'm not a runner
Since Ross killed Baby I'm the number 1 stunna
If you ain't know me then fall off and take a number
