Embiid's season is over.
The Philadelphia Sixers have announced that Joel Embiid's rookie season is over.
Embiid underwent an MRI on his injured left knee this week which revealed that his meniscus tear was more pronounced than originally expected, forcing the team to shut him down for the rest of the season.
Embiid has not played since January 27th after suffering a bruised left knee and has missed 17 of the Sixers' last 18 games.
In the 31 games that Embiid appeared in this season, he averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game.
I still struggle to picture voting for anyone else for Rookie of the Year over Joel Embiid. His mere 31 games still outshine all other rooks— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) March 1, 2017
