Criminal activity seems to run in the family.
Morgan Roof is the sister of Dylann Roof, the notorious gunman who entered into a Charleston church and killed nine people in an act of hate-fuelled terror. However, she has some criminal baggage of her own, which has recently gotten the 18 year-old in trouble with local authorities.
Roof had taken to social media to share an incriminating post that sent some of her fellow students into a panic. After notifying school faculty, Roof's locker was searched by a school resource officer, who discovered marijuana, pepper spray, as well as a knife. She was then charged with simple possession of marijuana and two counts of carrying weaponry on school grounds.
Roof had taken to Snapchat to respond to yesterday's National School Walkout Day in honour of stalling gun violence in America. She allegedly wrote "your [sic] walking out for the allowed time of 17min, they are letting you do this, nothing is gonna change what tf you think it's gonna do? I hope it's a trap and y'all get shot we know it's fixing to be nothing but black people walkin out anyway."
Susan Childs, the principal of A.C Flora High School in Columbia, South Carolina, which Roof attends, has notified the press that "the posting was not a threat, but was extremely inappropriate. That student was dealt with in a swift and severe manner as the posting caused quite a disruption."
Roof was eventually granted a $5,000 bond, and was ordered not to attend school for the time being.
