Shawn Harris celebrated #PrinceDay by releasing two Prince odes late last night: "Uptown" and "612." "612" doubles as an ode to Prince and an ode to Harris' hometown of Minneapolis. The 612!! "I'm bout to purple rain on this city, rest in peace that nigga Prince," he croons.
Produced by Spliff Beats & Sounds by Coop, "612" features brooding synths and muffled vocal cries that recall the OVO/XO production aesthetic, although Harris' autotuned weeping is most reminiscent of Future.
"612" is good music for nocturnal whippin'. Give it a listen and keep an eye out for Harris anticipated Lafre project coming soon.
