As Atlanta’s capacity for new talent continues to expand, so does the spectrum in which all this talent lies, and its refreshing to see for a city primarily pegged for its assembly line output of our favorite trap stars. Enter Shamba The Artist, the Jersey-born, Atlanta-bred songstress weaving her way through the foliage of hopefuls in the southern city.

It was at the top of the year that the young singer dropped off her debut Rainbows & Hurricanes mixtape, executive produced by Mike Kalombo, known for his work with the likes of Usher, T.I. and Jermaine Dupri. Anchored down by lead single “I Do,” featuring The Rap Game alum Deetranada, the project effectively highlighted Shamba’s ability to balance a much more modern R&B sound without compromising the crux of the genre—a rare feat in today’s prominence of blurred lines and gray areas.

This week, the upstart returns with new visuals to accompany project standout “Wave.” Taking on a more aggressive approach, the cut finds itself floating in anthem territory as she utters out lines like, “I’m all for the winning I’m for the money committed, yeah /I secure the bag chasing a check in your city.”
