Netflix keeps on adding to their list of original content. Although the streaming site has released a number of original movies in the past two years, they have an inconsistent record of delivering great films. Some of their movies are remarkable, while others should have been left in Hollywood purgatory, where scripts are suspended in time and nothing gets made. Like Father, a new Netlifx comedy written, directed and produced by Lauren Miller Rogen, looks like it will be one of the good ones.
Lauren Miller is the wife of comedian and actor Seth Rogen, who stars in Like Father alongside Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer. The story follows Bell, a bride who is left at the altar. Her estranged father shows up to her wedding, and in a moment of disbelief and sadness, she decides to hit the bar with her pops to drown out the memories of the failed wedding. The next day, Bell and her father, played by Grammer, wake up on a honeymoon cruise. It appears that in a state of utter inebriation, Bell invited her father on the Honeymoon cruise that was meant for her husband. Bell, who is less than enamored by her father who she hasn't seen in years, ends up getting to reconnect with family while embarking on a soul-searching yet hilarious adventure with her pops.
Like Father will be available to stream on Netflix August 3.
