A few days after Bobby Shmurda affiliate and GS9 crew member Rashid “Rasha” Derissant was sentenced to 98 years in prison for murder and other charges, the New York Daily News now suggests another man associated with the group has been given 53 years behind bars.

22-year-old Alex “A-Rod” Crandon was convicted of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, among other charges, and was not able to sway Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott with his pleas.

"Please allow me the opportunity to become a productive citizen and raise my daughter to become one also," he said in court. Clott stressed that the charges were too severe to show leniency, arguing, "the community must be protected given the enormity of the crimes here."

Bobby Shmurda has been held on 2 million dollar bail for related crimes for over a year. His trial was recently postponed, and will now take place September 12th.
