Sy Ari Da Kid comes through with a new mixtape by the name of Better Safe Than Sy Ari, which features guest appearances from J.I.D., EarthGang, CyHi Tha Prynce, Quentin Miller, & Translee. Following up his 2Soon tape, Sy Ari switches up the style on this one, opting for a return to his New York roots; smooth, East-Coast inspired production is the vibe here, especially on cuts like "The Color Black" and "New Malcolm X." If the cover didn't give it away, the project does touch on racial and social themes, with Sy Ari giving his take on the controversial H&M "coolest monkey in the jungle debacle."

While he hasn't quite reached the ubiquity of some of the other artists dropping today, Sy Ari's Better Safe Than Sy Ari is a solid project from start to finish. Plus, any album that boasts features from J.I.D. and EarthGang on the same track is worthy of some respect.
