Wu-Tang Clan's reunion album, A Better Tomorrow, is still awaiting official release, meanwhile we've been fed gritty singles like "Necklace" and "Ruckus In B Minor." The entire group isn't going heavy on the promo route for this album though, so it's likely to impact relatively quietly. Nonetheless RZA sat down for an interview with the New York Times recently, where he discussed investing in the album from his personal bank account.

RZA is definitely aware that he won't necessarily make a return on his investment, but he's satisfied nonetheless. When asked how much of this album he's paying for out of pocket, the producer replies, "Everything. And I won’t recoup. I’m already overbudget. Maybe I’ll net out a half-million-dollar loss."

He goes on to offer a bit of wisdom, "I invested in the album. Look, if I never did anything again in music, it wouldn’t affect my life materially. I live a very satisfying life. Not because I’ve made a few dollars, but because I have a wife who loves me and children who wait for me to come home. And that is beautiful. I think that’s the American dream: to be at peace at home."

While RZA is able to invest half a million dollars into an album and still go on living, he also spoke on Wu members like Cappadonna, who don't have the same financial stability. When asked about Cappa having to drive a cab for a living at one point, RZA said it pulls on his heartstrings "but Cappa, one minute he’s driving a cab, next minute he’s driving a Benz. He’s going to figure it out because he is not a normal guy. He has talent."
