Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook joined an elite club in NBA history last night in Atlanta after recording the 100th triple-double of his career. In doing so, Westbrook became just the fourth player in NBA history to reach the 100 triple-double milestone, joining Jason Kidd (107), Magic Johnson (138) and Oscar Robertson (181).
The Brodie finished with a game-high 32 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists as OKC picked up a 119-107 victory against the Hawks.
"Oh man, just an unbelievable blessing," Westbrook said, per ESPN. "I give thanks to the man above just for allowing me to go out and play the game I love each and every night. I never take it for granted."
"The group of guys that's ahead are Hall of Famers," Westbrook said. "I'm just happy to be a part of the crew with those guys."
Last night's stat line marked Westbrook's third consecutive triple-double and his 21st of the season. Furthermore, the reigning NBA MVP is on the verge of averaging a triple-double for the second straight season. With 12 games to play, Westbrook is averaging 25.3 points, 10.2 assists and 9.6 rebounds per game. He has played in all but two of OKC's games this season.
The Thunder, 41-29, are currently sitting in fourth place in the wildly competitive Western Conference but they're just a half game up on the fifth seed New Orleans Pelicans and the sixth seed Minnesota Timberwolves. OKC will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night before a two-game road trip that includes stops in Toronto and Boston.
