Prior to the drop of his debut, self produced album There's Really A Wolf, Russ' main concern was making a lasting first impression. The talent was evident, as the New Jersey rapper not only spit bars, but sung, produced, mixed, mastered and engineered the entire project. Still, the self-proclaimed "Soundcloud King" first had to solidify a foothold beyond the comforts of his "kingdom." And with a sold-out tour in the bag and a debut appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Russ seems poised to really make some noise in the coming months.
On that note, Russ has penned a somber new anthem, which details the scope of his ambition. Now that he's conquered the first step, he's able to officially set his sights on the biggest picture - the game. And no, that doesn't refer to the rapper. "The Game" has been one of the most stable metaphors in hip-hop lore, and many rappers have aspired to find their place within it. Now, Russ joins their ranks as the latest to attempt, making his intentions known over a haunting choir-driven instrumental.
Kicking things off with some powerful accusations, Russ reflects how hip-hop awards are chosen by "some racists," presumably referring to The Grammy's. He also takes aim at MTV, who he claims snubbed him in favor of less successful artists. It's clear that Russ is really feeling himself on this one, rattling off his accomplishments like Daenerys in Game Of Thrones. Still, that doesn't make his accomplishments any less impressive, and while some might decry his arrogance, others might respect the tenacity.
One thing is certain. Russ shows no sign of slowing down, and if he continues to roll with this momentum, his fanbase will only grow. And who knows, maybe one day he'll have the respect he seems to covet.
I get everything for free from your girl to my wardrobe
Half a million dollars smiling on my torso

You just got foreclosed
Money running low you gon have to do more shows
But you know no one shows for your shows
So you do club hostings but you drink what you gross
