Kanye will take the stage at SNL this May, and the writers would like to include a Kim Kardashian skit in the airing, but are are worried of offending the rapper.
Yesterday, it was announced that Kanye would be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live's season finale in May. While everyone is excited to see what he'll bring to the table performance-wise, the SNL writers also want to take advantage of having the icon present for a skit.Â
Always quick to parody topical events, the writers are looking to poke fun at Kim more specifically. âKanye as musical guest is a great get for SNL, but of course the writers want to push the envelope and take advantage of it with a Kim Kardashian skit,â an insider close to NBC reported to Radar.
However, the team is aware that Yeezy can sometimes find it hard to take a joke. â[This type of skit] is not unusual since her famous family has been spoofed before with some very hilarious and spot-on impersonations of a whining Kim. They have to tread lightly because Kanye hasnât been happy with all the flack Kimâs been getting about her pregnancy weight gain.
âItâs definitely going to be a challenge â the writers donât want to piss off Kanye so theyâre prepared not to cross the line, but they will go as far as they can,â said the source.
The producers behind the live show will attempt to keep the writers from going overboard. âThe writers are pushing real hard for an over-the-top skit and the producers are there to reel them right back in if they go too far. Normally the writers have free reign and just go for it, but there has to be some boundaries when your musical guest is Kanye and heâs super sensitive about the constant Kim bashing.â
Apparently a skit has been written that may please both sides. âTheyâve come up with a win-win scenario where Kim actually gets a cameo at the end of the skit. That would probably make everyone in Kanyeâs camp â and especially Kim â very happy.â
The episode will air Saturday May 18th.
