Royce da 5'9" recalls DMX's historic debuts on the Billboard Hot 200, says Logic is on his way there.
chievedWhile he remains a shadow of what he used to be, DMX is one of the most historic rappers to have ever picked up the mic. With a string of three consecutive albums debuting at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart, DMX's debut was impressive, to say the least. Royce da 5'9" took some time to tweet out how one of the newer generation's artists is reminding him of X's past accolades. Debuting on the charts at the top spot for his second straight project, Logic has been enjoying tremendous success of late, and Royce is noticing.
Responding to a tweet congratulating Logic on debuting at number 1 with Bobby Tarantino II, Royce tweeted, "He on some DMX shit," comparing his run to that of the New York rapper. Royce is referring to X's successful debuts of It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood and ...And Then There Was X. Less than 10 months ago, Logic's album Everybody achieved the same feat of being crowned number 1 in its first week. DMX was the first rapper to accomplish three straight projects appearing at the top position during their first week and Logic could soon be on his way to matching that.
While his next album has not been announced, the rollout of Bobby Tarantino II was surprisingly quick, with no major announcements until the week prior to its release. Logic's next project could land him some impressive company if it debuts at number 1.
