Royce Da 5’9” continues to roll out new music ahead of his upcoming solo album Book Of Ryan, which drops May 4th. After hitting us with the J. Cole-assisted single “Boblo Boat” & “Stay Woke,” the Detroit emcee decides to come through today and share another offering called “Dumb” featuring Shady Records’ newest signee, Boogie.
Over the West Coast-sounding production from S1 and Epikh Pro, Royce delivers another one of his lyrical exercises, addressing how “dumb” the industry shit be at times & being one of the best rappers in the game today. “Consult me about my image bro/ I’m the best rapper out this bitch/ Except, the only catch is that I’m in this hoe,” he spits. Meanwhile, Compton’s Boogie handles the chorus and second verse, showcasing his slick wordplay in the process.
Take a listen and let us know what you think. Record available on iTunes.
All this industry shit is (Dumb)
There ain’t no middle class
Raise yo glass
Here’s the classism
Either you a rich ass nigga or you’s a bum
There ain’t no in between
Sinners sell their souls, angels sell their halos and they wings
I had dreams of fuckin’ the R&B chick
Then I found out that R&B chick already had a dick
Already slept with your favorite rapper, aren’t we sick
You start as a artist and turn to alcoholic and quit
