Roscoe Dash concluded the year with an unprecedented challenge, dropping a playlist of tracks rather than a traditional album. The artist's intention with 5thy5ive is to allow people to "make their own album" out of their favorite songs which were crafted in different eras and scooped from various "waves."
The album's introduction entitled "Rubiks" stands out with its unusual vocal samples as well as Roscoe's use of an old-school flavored flow, reminiscent of The Pharcyde. Check out his swooping bars below.
Dash commented on the full-length release: "This project is me releasing a part of my life I needed to give to the world in order to complete the next portion of life and music. I wanted to share that by allowing the consumer to have a hands on experience in this cultural shift. 'Throw out what doesn’t serve you and create what does' is the motive."
