Rockie Fresh has been dropping off hot new material each week since he announced his upcoming album The Night I Went To... He had been quiet for most of the 2015, but it seems the Chicago rapper used the hiatus to sharpen his sound, and his album is looking more promising with each new drop. His newest song, "Down to Roll," is more upbeat than recent releases like "Aurora" and "All I Want," but like those tracks, it deals with a rocky romantic affair.

Over a house-y production that makes use of an emotional vocal sample, Fresh raps about how he knows his girl is "down to roll" because they share an undeniable intuitive vibe. We often see this style -- romantic subject matter mixed with a tough, edgy sound -- in R&B, but such a nuanced mood is rarely reflected in complex raps like the ones Fresh lets loose here.

"Down to Roll" is produced by two Toronto producers, Zalezy of The Maven Boys and Boi-1da protégé Sevn Thomas.

With all these new tracks, The Night I Went To... should be coming soon.

Quotable Lyrics

I feel like you met me before
I feel like you tried to forget, but you missin' me more
This pressure's just takin' you low
And I'm on my way to the do', hope you ready to go
