Rajon Rondo Sets Pelicans' Single-Game Assist Record

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Rajon Rondo accomplished a feat last night against the Brooklyn Nets that no player has done since 1996.

In just 30 minutes of action, Rondo dished out a career-high 25 assists becoming just the seventh player in NBA history to reach the milestone in a single-game, and first to do so since Jason Kidd did it in '96.

Rondo's 25 assists also set a New Orleans Pelicans franchise record.

Rondo only scored two points on 1/5 shooting in the Pelicans' 128-113 win over the Nets, but his 25 assists accounted for 58 points. According to Elias Sports, Rondo is also the oldest person to drop 25 dimes in a game, at 31 years, 308 days old.

'The No. 1 thing is we got the win. And then me, personally, I love passing the ball,'' Rondo told reporters after the game. ''I've been blessed to play with a lot of great players, and what I take pride in is making those guys' jobs easier.''

After the game, DeMarcus Cousins joked that Rondo could've had 30 or more assists if he and Anthony Davis didn't miss some easy buckets.

With last night's victory, the Pelicans improved to 18-16 on the season which is seventh best in the Western Conference. Currently riding a three game winning streak, the Pelicans will remain in New Orleans for a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow night, followed by a Saturday night game vs the New York Knicks.
