"This is gonna be the real shebang, the best shit we ever dropped our whole career," says Swae Lee.
As part of their set at this weekend's Rolling Loud SoCal, Rae Sremmurd gave fans a preview of their imminent third studio album SremmLife 3. The duo performed three new songs among their many hits, including tracks titled "Chanel" and "Side To Side," as Swae Lee revealed in a post-show interview with Revolt.
"Chanel" is a slow, but still very lively Jxmmi-led track that recalls Mike WiLL's beat on Gucci Mane's "Plain Jane." "Side To Side" is a high-BPM banger that features a sticky Swae hook and drum programming that nods to Mannie Fresh. You can watch both songs performed below.
A third, untitled track features a soaring Swae chorus that sounds like a no-bullshit party-starting single along the lines of "Come Get Her."
In Swae's Revolt interview, as pointed out by HipHopnMore, he shared some vague but promising updates on Sremm 3. "We might hit 'em with like a shit-ton of songs," he said. "Beacoup hits at a time, a bundle of hits." When asked if a Speakerboxxx/The Love Below type of double album could be in the works, Swae left the possibility open. "Just look at this face, you never know what it's up to," he said. "'Unforgettable,' 'Sativa,' I'm just giving them a little taste of what I'm gonna do. This is gonna be the real shebang, the best shit we ever dropped our whole career." As far as whether "Perplexing Pegasus" would appear on the album, Swae instantly flipped from "you know we gotta put the Pegasus on there," to "we're gonna put a whole new song on there, Pegasus is just for y'all to enjoy and vibe to." For now, let's say the tracklist is undecided.
SremmLife 3 will be released in January, as Swae Lee recently confirmed.
