Kellz recently wrapped up a 46-day U.S. tour with Keyshia Cole and Marsha Ambrosius. Last week, he tweeted that he was having trouble with his throat and wasn’t feeling well, explaining that he felt like “my throat is coming back” and that he was in bed “sweating like crazy.”

In a press release, representatives for R. Kelly explained that he was rushed to the hospital to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils.

"R&B superstar R. Kelly will be laid up for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing an emergency procedure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital yesterday to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils," read the release. "Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain. Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure. It is not known when the multiplatinum recording star, who just completed the U.S. leg of his worldwide Love Letter Tour, will be able to resume performing."

According to Billboard.com, R. Kelly has been released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital today after undergoing emergency surgery on Tuesday. It is currently unclear if he will be able to resume touring and performing in the near future.
