Q-Tip has been dropping knowledge on hip-hop fans for decades, but now he's set to become an actual college instructor. According to Billboardthe leader of the legendary hip-hop crew, A Tribe Called Quest,  is joining journalist Ashley Kahn to instruct a course at NYU's Clive Davis Institute Of Recorded Music In The Tisch School of the Arts. The Tisch School's alumni include Donald Glover, Mahershala Ali, Whoopi Goldberg, Martin Scorsese, and a long list of another reputable industry innovators. On NYU's website, the course was announced as follows:

"Legendary rapper, musician, and producer Q-Tip and Grammy-winning journalist, producer, and writer Ashley Kahn will examine the intertwined relationship between jazz and hip-hop this fall at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in the Tisch School of the Arts. This course is among the first in the world to explore the underappreciated connections between jazz and hip-hop and combines historical and social perspectives with the opportunity to produce original music at the nexus of the two genres."

In the announcement, Q-Tip states, "I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know and I look forward to them also teaching me. Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved." The course will feature seven classes. The Last Poets, Stetsasonic, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, and Kendrick Lamar are a few of the artists that will be featured in the studies for the courses.
