Puma's return to basketball wouldn't be complete without a new on-court sneaker, and today we have our first look at what Puma athletes DeAndre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III and Zhaire Smith will be rocking during their rookie season.
Dubbed the Puma Clyde Court Disrupt, the shoes are inspired by Knicks legend Walt "Clyde" Frazier, who was recently given a lifetime contract with the revived brand. Puma has a long history in the basketball space with Clyde and the first ever endorsed sneaker – the Puma Clyde - that was launched in 1973.
This updated take on that classic sneaker features an engineered knit upper, a padded ankle collar and an external heel counter. Thus far, the kicks have only been revealed in a vibrant sunburst colorway, which is fitting considering it is widely believed the Phoenix Suns will take Puma's DeAndre Ayton with the #1 overall pick in tomorrow night's NBA Draft.
The Puma Clyde Court Disrupt is expected to launch at retailers on October 1, just in time for the start of the 2018-19 NBA season.
